The Daniel Fast app is here

Daniel Fast Plan & Recipes walks you through the twenty one days one day at a time: what to eat, the passage that belongs to that day, and a grocery list that adds itself up while you shop.

It is the same fast this site has always written about, with the planning done for you. Every dish in the app is already the Daniel Fast version, so there is nothing to work around in the kitchen.

Download on the App Store

Free to download. iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Days one to three are free.

Inside the app

Three things you will use every day

The day card with breakfast, lunch and dinner and the scripture for that day

The day card

Breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack, drawn from 28 dishes that all sit inside the fast, with the passage for that day in the King James Version. Room for your own notes, and the streak counts itself.

The recipe list in the app, every dish written as the Daniel Fast version

Recipes made for the fast

Where a swap is needed the recipe says so and says what to use instead: date paste for honey, whole wheat for white flour, olive oil for butter. Where a swap changes the dish, it says that too.

The grocery list in the app adding ingredients together across the next three days

A grocery list that adds up

Pick three days, seven days or the whole fast and the list adds the ingredients together across those days. It scales to the number of people you cook for, and you tick things off as they go in the basket.

Check a label in the shop

Photograph the ingredient list on a jar and the app reads it. It answers in one of three ways: it fits the fast, it does not fit, or it cannot tell you for certain. On a fast a wrong yes is worse than an honest I do not know, so the third answer is a real answer here. The reading happens on your phone and the photo is not kept.

Your notes stay yours

Check-ins, notes and your streak are kept in your own iCloud. There is no account and no password: the app uses the Apple Account you already have. Get a new phone, sign in, and they are there again. The whole app works with no connection at all, which matters in a shop with thick walls.

Questions about the app

Is the Daniel Fast app free?

The app is free to download and days one to three are free to use, together with the food list and the 17 recipes that also live on biblical.recipes. One payment of $24.99 opens the remaining 18 days, the grocery lists for the whole fast, the label scanner without a limit, and 11 cookbook dishes that are not on the site. There is no subscription.

Is there an Android version of the Daniel Fast app?

Not yet. The app is built for iPhone and needs iOS 17 or later. Everything on biblical.recipes, including the guide, the food list and the recipes, works in any browser on any phone.

What does the label scanner do?

You photograph the ingredient list on a jar or a packet and the app reads it. It answers in one of three ways: it fits the fast, it does not fit, or it cannot tell for certain. The reading happens on the phone and the photo is not kept.

Does the app work without a connection?

Yes. The recipes, the passages and the whole 21-day plan are stored in the app, so it works on a plane or in a shop with no signal.

Where are my check-ins and notes kept?

In your own iCloud. There is no account and no password: the app uses the Apple Account you already have. Sign in on a new phone and your check-ins, notes and streak are there again.

Do I need the app to do the Daniel Fast?

No. The guide, the food list and the Daniel Fast recipes are free on this site and always will be. The app is for people who would rather be walked through the days one at a time.

The Daniel Fast is a religious observance and not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before you change how you eat, certainly during pregnancy or with diabetes, an eating disorder or another condition.
